Breast Lift Surgery

Age, weight fluctuations, and the physical changes that accompany pregnancy all can detract from the size and shape of your breasts – often leaving them flat, sagging, and unattractive. You don't need to resign yourself to wearing padded bras or hiding under loose clothing. It's possible to look and feel great about your breasts both in and out of clothing, as many women in Boston, MA know after choosing breast lift surgery.

Breast lift surgery, technically called mastopexy, raises and tightens the breasts, restoring a firm, youthful look. Enlarged or stretched areolas can be reshaped and reduced as well. Dr. Michael Tantillo, a board-certified plastic surgeon, offers women from Massachusetts and Rhode Island breast lift surgery to renew their breast shape.

When you meet with Dr. Tantillo you won't be rushed. He makes sure there is enough time for a thorough consultation so he can clearly understand your goals for cosmetic surgery. His patients are guided through the process by his helpful and supportive office staff, ensuring that all of their concerns are addressed and questions are answered.

Benefits of Breast Lift Surgery

Many women increase their self-confidence through breast lift surgery because it can correct and enhance their breast appearance by:

  • Raising breasts that sag
  • Tightening breasts that have lost shape and volume
  • Realigning breasts that are asymmetrical
  • Raising nipples that fall below the breast crease
  • Redirecting nipples that point downward
  • Decreasing the size of areolas

A breast lift won't fill out the upper portion of your breasts or increase their size. Many patients achieve a fuller, more rounded look through combined breast lift and augmentation, while others choose only breast augmentation in Boston to achieve the fuller look they desire. During your consultation, Dr. Tantillo will help you choose the right solution for you.

Who is a Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast lift surgery provides the best results for healthy women with smaller breasts who have good skin elasticity. You will be most satisfied with you results if you have realistic expectations about what breast lift surgery can accomplish. Dr. Tantillo will take the time to provide you with all the information you will need to make a careful and informed decision.

If you are planning on future pregnancies, Dr. Tantillo might recommend holding off on breast lift surgery, as breast size often increases during this time. The same holds true if you anticipate weight loss surgery in Boston.

Recovery & Results

Dr. Tantillo performs breast lift surgery as an outpatient surgical procedure, so you will be able to go home the day of your surgery. Make sure you arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home. After your surgery, your incisions will be dressed and wrapped, and you will be required to wear a surgical support bra 24 hours a day for the first 3 to 4 weeks. Although you will need to limit strenuous activity for 3 to 4 weeks, you should be able to return to work within a week or two.

You will immediately be able to see the improvements from your breast lift surgery. The associated swelling and bruising should begin to dissipate within 1 to 2 weeks. The scars from the incision sites will gradually thin and fade for about the first year after surgery.
