Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation
Many women pursue plastic surgery to achieve full, shapely breasts and slim body contours. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a procedure that could help you achieve both these goals? Now there is – with fat transfer, a procedure that uses your own fat to increase the size of your breasts. Dr. Michael Tantillo performs this innovative procedure to help women achieve natural enhancement.
Are you ready to learn more about this innovative technique for breast enhancement? Visit with Dr. Tantillo in person when you request a consultation with him at Longwood Plastic Surgery. Dr. Tantillo's Massachusetts and Rhode Island breast enlargement patients each receive an in-depth consultation where expectations are discussed, a brief physical examination is performed, and before and after photos from past patients are reviewed.
What Is Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?
To achieve fat transfer breast augmentation for Boston, Massachusetts and Rhode Island patients, Dr. Tantillo uses liposuction for Boston patients to remove fat from areas such as the abdomen, love handles, or thighs. The harvested fat is carefully purified before being placed through micro injections into the breast tissue.
Preparation for fat transfer breast augmentation is a little different than for implant-based augmentation. For several weeks before surgery, patients will need to wear a suction cup bra. This device will help prepare the breast tissue to accept the transferred fat. To ensure optimal results, the device should also be worn for several weeks after surgery.
While this method can achieve noticeable enhancement, keep in mind that fat transfer will not achieve the same results as traditional breast augmentation in the Boston area with implants. Fat transfer is ideal for women looking for a more subtle enhancement, and who like the idea of a more "natural" result. Because your own cells (not an implant) are used for augmentation, you won't need to worry about rupture, deflation, or capsular contracture.

Who Is a Candidate for Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?
Not everyone is a good candidate for fat transfer. At his Boston area cosmetic surgery practice, Dr. Tantillo will perform a thorough evaluation to determine if fat transfer can achieve your breast augmentation goals or if breast implants may be a better option. You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have good skin quality and breast position (elastic skin and minimal sagging). Women with a great deal of breast drooping or sagging may want to consider a breast lift combined with augmentation using breast implants in the Boston area.
- Do not plan to lose a significant amount of weight after the procedure. If you lose weight, you will see decreased breast volume.
- Desire only subtle enhancement, not a dramatic increase in size.
- Would like to reduce areas of unwanted fat with liposuction.
Recovery & Results
By following Dr. Tantillo's guidelines for your recovery, you are ensuring that you get the most from your fat transfer breast augmentation. Wear the special bra for the indicated amount of time and allow yourself to rest while your body heals.
Your body will naturally absorb some of the fat that is transferred to your breasts. However, the remaining fat should achieve an improved shape as well as a subtle size increase. Your enhanced breasts will be complemented by body contours refined through liposuction.
