A wrinkled, saggy, neck with vertical "turkey wattle" bands greatly detracts from your appearance, making you look old no matter what your age. Sometimes, heredity or weight loss can cause skin on the neck to hang and sag, even in younger women and men. Many people, both young and old, are self-conscious about the appearance of their necks.
Women and men can attain a smooth, youthful-looking neck and defined jaw line through neck lift surgery. What is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that smoothes the neck and defines the jaw line. It improves the appearance of the neck and the area below the chin by removing excess skin and fat while tightening loose, weakened muscles. It is often combined with a face lift, and typically involves liposuction in Boston to remove excess fat deposits.
Dr. Tantillo offers a less invasive form of neck lift, called the micro neck lift, in which he uses a smaller incision under the chin and under the ears at the back of the neck. This procedure requires minimal downtime and is most effective for patients with minor sagging and wrinkling. For many patients, it provides pleasing improvements that can delay more extensive cosmetic surgery for 5 years or more.
Who is a Candidate for Neck Lift Cosmetic Surgery?
Adult women and men of all ages choose neck lift surgery to:
- Tighten loose neck muscles and sagging skin after weight loss
- Improve the appearance of an aging neck to compliment a face lift
- Define a jaw line softened by fat deposits and loose skin
When you meet with Dr. Tantillo at your consultation appointment, he will assess whether a neck lift alone will provide the benefits you desire. He may recommend other facial sculpting procedures as well, such as a nose job in Boston.
Recovery & Results
Immediately after your neck lift, you will have a pressure bandage around your head and underneath your chin. You may experience swelling and bruising of the neck, jaw, and ears for up to 10 days. Dr. Tantillo will have you sleep with your head elevated for 1 to 2 weeks to minimize the swelling. Most patients are allowed to return to non-strenuous activity, including work, after 5 to 10 days.
Once recovery is complete, Dr. Tantillo's cosmetic surgery patients can enjoy a smooth, taut neck along with a well-defined jaw line. Patients often appear as if they have lost weight because of the neck lift improvements. It is not surprising that the rejuvenation from this procedure can give people a boost that will enable them to hold their heads up high with self-confidence.
