Boston Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

Print This PageEmail this Page

Rhinoplasty ModelThere are many justifiable reasons why women and men in Boston choose rhinoplasty (a "nose job"). Some people have always been dissatisfied with the look of their nose - whether it's too big, has a bump, turns up or down too much, or has large nostrils. Some people are left with a misshapen nose through accidental injury. Others seek relief from impaired nose function such as breathing problems caused by a deviated septum.

Whatever the reason, a nose job in Boston can enable you to breathe more freely and give you the confidence to hold your head up high. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Tantillo is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, so you can be confident that your cosmetic surgery procedure will be performed with skill and precision.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty ("nose job") is a Boston plastic surgery procedure performed for both cosmetic and functional reasons. Cosmetic rhinoplasty reshapes and sculpts the nose making it look more attractive and balanced on the face. Functional surgery corrects breathing difficulties caused by accidental injury or congenital defects.

Who is a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is an appropriate procedure for adults of all ages, although teens should wait until facial growth is complete. Each year, it is continually one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States. Patients throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island choose nose surgery from Dr. Tantillo to:

  • Create a more proportional nose
  • Remove a bump from the bridge of the nose
  • Reduce a wide nose
  • Straighten and balance a crooked, asymmetrical nose
  • Correct breathing difficulties due to trauma or birth defects
  • Complement other procedures such as Boston area eyelid surgery or facelift surgery

Recovery & Results

Immediately after your procedure, you will need to rest with your head elevated to minimize swelling and bruising. Most patients will wear a nose splint for 5 to 7 days. Within 10 to 14 days, most people can resume light activities. When the swelling has largely disappeared, usually 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, you will be able to resume strenuous exercise. Very slight changes to the appearance of your nose may continue for up to a year as swelling completely resolves.

Once healed, Dr. Tantillo's rhinoplasty patients often feel more satisfied with their overall facial appearance. After your procedure you should be able to breathe more freely and face life with greater confidence.
