Details for Case #35

This patient is a fifty year old mother of five children who came to my Brookline plastic surgery office from southern Massachusetts to discuss abdominoplasty. She keeps herself very physically fit. She is bothered by the excess skin of her abdomen that has been present since her pregnancies.

She is an excellent candidate for abdominoplasty. No amount of exercise will tighten the loose skin that is present on her abdomen. During our Boston plastic surgery discussions we discussed what she could expect from her tummy tuck. Her abdominoplasty removed the excess skin from the abdomen, tightened her sit-up muscles and improved her overall abdominal shape.

Some patients spend one night in the hospital after an abdominoplasty while others are able to go home the day of surgery. A thin tube placed under the skin to collect excess fluid that may accumulate during the first few days following the surgery. Patients avoid straining or lifting for several days following the surgery. Swelling will increase for approximately three days after the surgery and then subside over the following few weeks. You will be able to return to normal activities a few weeks following your abdominoplasty. The incision lines will fade after the surgery.

If you are interested in learning more about abdominoplasty or any other Boston plastic surgery procedures, request a consultation at my Brookline office. During your consultation we will discuss your aesthetic goals and how we can best achieve them.
