This patient is a 57 year old woman from Boston, MA who came to my Brookline, MA office to discuss cosmetic surgery Boston. She was interested in improving the overall contour of her torso. During our consultations we discussed the benefits of combining liposuction of the flank area (love handles) with abdominoplasty. Very often, as was the case for this patient, liposuction and tummy tuck can be performed at the same procedure. Liposuction of the flank area can significantly enhance the results of abdominoplasty for some patients.
This patient stayed in the hospital for one night after her surgery. She returned to her home the day following surgery. As is usually the case following abdominoplasty, thin drains were used to collect the fluid from beneath the skin; the drains are removed in the office several days after surgery. Swelling after this surgery begins to decrease approximately three days after surgery and most of the swelling is gone a few weeks following surgery. This patient began light activities the day after surgery and was able to resume all normal activities a few weeks following her plastic surgery Boston.
The post-operative photographs demonstrate the dramatic results that can be achieved with a tummy tuck. Notice also the added improvement from the liposuction of the flank areas.
