Details for Case #42

This patient is a forty-four old woman from suburban Boston, MA who came to my Brookline, MA office to discuss tummy tuck Boston. She has had two children delivered by Cesarean section. She had successfully returned to near her pre-pregnancy weight; however, the fullness of her lower abdomen persisted.

During our cosmetic surgery Boston consultation we discussed what she could expect from an abdominoplasty. When the skin and soft tissues of the lower abdomen have been stretched out, such as often the case after pregnancy, diet and exercise will not tone the lower abdomen. An abdominoplasty will tighten the skin and soft tissues of the abdomen as well as tighten the abdominal wall muscles. The surgical changes of an abdominoplasty are permanent; although future pregnancies and once again stretch the skin and soft tissues. Most women wait until they have completed their family to proceed with a tummy tuck.

She recovered quickly from her abdominoplasty. She was able to return to her normal activities within a few weeks of her tummy tuck. Swelling after an abdominoplasty begins to subside a few days following surgery and is gone several weeks later. The incisions will fade and improve for the first year after surgery. Her post-operative photographs show a dramatic improvement is the shape of her abdomen.
