This patient is a petite twenty-three year old woman from Boston, MA who came to my Brookline, MA office to discuss tummy tuck Boston. She is the mother of one child who was born by Cesarean section. Her baby was quite large compared to her body size, and the patient had a significant amount of stretched, inelastic skin of the lower abdomen following her pregnancy.
During our Boston cosmetic surgery consultations we discussed her expectations from abdominoplasty. As seen in her pre-operative photographs, she is not at all overweight; however, she has excess, stretched out skin from her pregnancy. A full abdominoplasty with skin and muscle tightening will improve the tone and contour of her abdomen, albeit with an incision on the lower abdomen and around the belly button.
Her tummy tuck Boston was done as an outpatient procedure, meaning that she left the hospital shortly after the completion of the abdominoplasty. I placed a thin drainage tube beneath the skin which collects the excess fluid from the surgical site. This drain is easily managed by patients at home until it is ready to be removed during an office visit. She began light activities the day following her surgery and gradually resumed her normal activities over the first few weeks after her tummy tuck. Her post-operative photographs demonstrate the tightening of the abdomen possible in even very thin patients.
