This 42 year old mother of three children came to my Brookline office from the Worcester, Massachusetts area to discuss breast augmentation and body contouring surgery. Following her pregnancies she lost all of the weight that she gained while pregnant; however, her breasts lost some volume which she did not like. She also wanted to remove excess skin of the abdomen, tone her abdomen and tighten her abdominal muscles.
During our consultations we discussed body contouring surgery and breast augmentation surgery. It is certainly not uncommon for women to want aesthetic improvement of their abdomen and breasts after pregnancy. Most of the time such breast and body surgery can be safely performed as a single surgery, as was the case for this patient. Breast augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction is just one type of Mommy Makeover surgery.
The surgery began with the liposuction and tummy tuck. I used an inframammary incision to develop the subpectoral pocket for the implants. In used Mentor moderate profile implants and filled each implant with 400cc of saline. After her surgery she stayed one night in the hospital and then returned home the day after surgery. She returned to her normal activities within a few weeks of her surgery.
