Details for Case #17

This patient is a 20 year old woman from Boston’s South Shore who works in a professional office. She came to my office in Brookline on referral from another patient of mine to discuss breast augmentation in Boston. She was pleased with the shape of her breast; however, she felt as though her breasts were small for her overall body stature.

During our consultations at my Boston cosmetic surgery practice, we discussed the subtle asymmetry of her breasts; her right breast was slightly larger than her left breast. Saline filled breast implants are filled at the time of surgery to the best volume for each patient and each patient’s individual breast.  For patients with minor breast asymmetry I will often use the same size saline implants but fill one side more than I fill the other side. This ability to individually fill each implant can be an advantage of saline implants over silicone gel filled implants. This patient decided that she wanted a 350cc augmentation on the right breast and she left the final decision of the volume of the left implant to me to make at the time of surgery.

At surgery I placed Mentor round moderate profile saline implants beneath the chest muscle using an inframammary incision. The inframammary incision allows for precise creation of the implant pocket and implant placement. The inframammary incision often is well concealed in the crease at the bottom of the breast. I filled the right implant with 350cc of saline and I filled the left implant with 385cc of saline.

She had an excellent recovery from the surgery quickly returning to work and her routine activities. She is pleased with the results of her surgery.
