Details for Case #32

This patient is a 44 year old woman who came to my Boston cosmetic surgery office from Salem New Hampshire to discuss breast and body surgery to improve her appearance following the pregnancy. She gained approximately fifty pounds with each of her pregnancies; she successfully lost all of this weight; however, her breasts lost volume in the upper portion and she had a few bothersome areas of fat.

During our consultations in my Brookline office we discussed the size and style implant needed to fill out the upper portion of her breasts. She used implant sizers to mimic her postoperative appearance, we discussed the fact that she has very wide based breasts and how her soft tissues would accommodate the breast implants. She and I also reviewed preoperative and postoperative photographs of my patients to help her visualize how she would look after surgery. She decided on a breast augmentation of 350cc and decided on an incision around the areola.

In the operating room I used wide based Inamed saline implants. I placed the implants under the chest wall muscle and filled each implant to 350cc. This patient also had liposuction of her abdomen and flanks at the same time as her breast surgery.

The surgery has nicely filled in the upper portion of her breasts and her breasts are more in proportion to her overall body. Her periareolar incision has healed well; an inframammary incision also would have been well concealed underneath her breasts.
