Breast Augmentation Case
Details for Case #33
This 32 year old woman from the north shore area came to my Boston plastic surgery office to discuss cosmetic breast augmentation. Her primary concerns were to improve the loss of breast volume and improve the flat shape of her upper breast.
During our discussions about
breast augmentation Boston we discussed the fact that her breasts and nipples are very widely spaced apart. The distance between the nipples is not narrowed (or widened) following breast augmentation. In addition to the fact that this patient has nipples that are widely spaced apart, the inner edges of her breast tissue are far apart. If an excessively wide implant were to have been chosen for this patient in order to narrow the distance between the breasts, the patient would have to accept two “tradeoffs.” The first is that there would have been very little soft tissue coverage of the implant medially which would mean that the implant would be more easily felt in the middle of the breast, the risk of wrinkling would have been increased, and the risk of tissue stretch would have increased. The other tradeoff is that the implant would have to be positioned quite laterally causing fullness under the arm and increasing the risk of nipple numbness.
This patient chose an implant that would fill out her existing breast shape and minimize her long term complications. At surgery I placed Inamed moderate profile saline implants underneath the chest wall muscle and filled each implant with 335cc of saline. The inframammary incision used in this case is well hidden under the breast in the lower breast fold.
She has done well following her breast augmentation Boston. The surgery accomplished her goals and she remains pleased seven years following her surgery.
