Breast Augmentation Case
Details for Case #5
This patient is a 37 year old woman who came to my Boston plastic surgery office to discuss breast implant surgery. She works in high-end retail and maintains an active lifestyle out side of work. She was interested in a modest augmentation and maintaining a natural look.
During the course of our discussions about
breast augmentation in Boston we talked about the differences between silicone gel implants and saline filled implants. Certainly when one holds a saline implant and a silicone implant, the silicone implant feels more natural. However, the soft tissue coverage and implant size have a great deal to do with how the implants feel after breast augmentation surgery. The better the soft tissue coverage, the less different the saline and silicone implants feel in the breast. This patient has excellent soft tissue coverage for the size implant that she chose (340cc) and would potentially feel the difference between saline and silicone only in the lower outer portion of the breast. However, she did ultimately choose silicone gel filled implants to give her the most natural feel of the implants throughout her breasts.
In the operating room I used an inframammary incision to place Inamed midrange profile 340cc silicone gel filled implants. Notice in her postoperative pictures that the incision is well concealed within the fold of the breast, as expected given the shape of her breast and position of the inframammary fold before surgery.
She is quite pleased with the results of her breast augmentation and happy that she chose silicone implants.
