Details for Case #6

This patient is a very active young woman from south of Boston who came to my Brookline office upon referral from another patient of mine to discuss breast augmentation in Boston. She is a petite young woman who is interested in a round full breast augmentation.

During our consultation at my Boston cosmetic surgery practice, we discussed the asymmetries inherent to her breasts and the limitations of breast augmentation without an associated breast lift. We agreed that the extra scars necessary for a breast lift were not warranted and decided to proceed with breast augmentation alone. She decided upon a 275cc augmentation with silicone-gel filled implants. I recommended high profile implants for her best aesthetic result and soft tissue coverage. A high profile silicone gel implant can not reliable placed through an incision in the arm pit. Because of the shape of the lower portion of her breast, an incision around the areola provides better visualization to create the pocket for the implant while an inframammary incision would likely noticeable than an incision around the areola.

At the time of surgery, using the periareolar approach, I placed Mentor high profile silicone-gel implants beneath the muscle. She went on to a rapid recovery quickly resuming her active lifestyle. She is pleased with her results and happy that she had the surgery.
