Breast Augmentation Case
Details for Case #8
This 20 year old woman came to my Boston plastic surgery office to discuss
breast augmentation. She had lost 100 pounds through diet and exercise and although she lost some fullness in the upper part of her breast, she did not have breast ptosis. She had seen several other Boston plastic surgeons in consultation prior to coming to my office and had decided that she wanted a 350cc breast augmentation.
During our consultation in my Brookline office we reviewed her pre operative photographs and discussed breast augmentation with and without breast lift surgery. In particular her left nipple is lower and more lateral than her right nipple, and her left inframammary fold is higher than her right fold. She decided against a breast lift on the left side preferring to have the augmentation only. An incision around the areola gives the surgeon added control to lower the inframammary fold and she decided on the periareola incision. Because her breasts are fairly wide, I used a Mentor moderate profile implant (which is the name of the lowest profile implant that Mentor manufactures). The implants were each filled with 350cc of saline.
Note in her postoperative pictures that her nipple height asymmetry remains. This would have been corrected with a mastopexy using an incision around the areola on the left side. However, this patient is quite happy with her results two years after surgery and still does not want to have the breast lift.
